Stanley Cup Playoffs!

Despite the loss and disturbing events which took place in Vancouver after last Wednesday's game, it was so exciting to experience the playoffs and cheer for the Canucks as they made it to the end. Here are some pictures which captured the real spirit of Vancouver during this time...

Remembering Maui

If there is one thing I know I have in common with my girls from the Maui Yoga Retreat it is that we LOVE our pictures... I often find myself creeping through my own on Facebook just to relive that time of pure amazingness...

Here are a few that make me particularly happy:

We took these pictures on some of the girls' last night... it was around 3:00 and so beautiful down at Kaanapali Beach

This was a 6am practice at a park in Lahaina... we rode our bikes there and back, and what was supposed to be a zen morning turned into a battle against the HUGE black flies that swarmed us the entire time. We were definitely NOT in the zone.

Boat trip to Molokini Crater... Lauren's hair always cracks me up...

Actually Lauren in general is constantly making me laugh... I really like this picture

Central Park

Bre and I managed to check out Central Park from all angles: 1) On a guided tour by a rather shady bike driver. 2) Running the small loop (about 4 km), and 3) On our own bikes around the whole park (13ish km)...

All three ways were awesome and allowed us to take in different aspects of the park... Here are some pics from our first tour.

View from opposite side of the lake... we were lucky the weather in NY was so nice while we were there.
Famous walkway in the middle of the park. We were here quite early in the morning which is why it wasn't too busy- Later in the day it was definitely bustling...
Photo shoot

Fountain across from the Boat House Restaurant.
Strawberry Fields... Memorial to John Lennon.
The fountain featured in the beginning of "Friends"... our tour man made us do something "crazy"... this was about all I could muster.

Love it.

This was another photo suggestion from our tuk-tuk driver...

New York Recap

When I booked my trip to New York a couple of months ago, I knew that I was in for a crazy ride, but nothing could have really prepared me for the intensity of maybe one of the most famous cities in the world: NYC. So much about the energy and buzz of this city makes you feel like you're in another world- and you haven't even left Manhattan.
You can skip the niceties and leave the "Canadian" in you at the airport- it won't help you here, where even the Starbucks baristas look down on you and bluntly ask, "Whatch'you havin'?!" before you've even had a chance to say hello. God help you if you need a minute to think about it... But all that supposed rudeness and seemingly hard image actually doesn't matter. We only witnessed one street fight, and had the pleasure of chatting with a number of locals all willing to point us to the best spots in the city. Oh yeah, and the shopping was out of control! Too much to take in. Literally.

Here are a few pictures from various points in the trip... More to follow :)

Greenwich Village... Or "The Village" if you're a true New Yorka!

Possibly the only bar showing the Canucks play Chicago Game 6. Needless to say it was full of some very excited Vancouverites.
This is Meredith, Me and Bre.

Dinner at Ruby Foos... YUMM!

Riding the Subway from Greenwich to Ground Zero... Very different than the old Canada Line.

Flat Iron Building
Times Square... In. Sane.
Empire State... never made it to the top. Next trip.
Dinner and Lemon Drop shots at the Stanton Social

This is what we saw stepping out of our hotel... complete mayhem at all times!
